The phone is for the work

At the crush, in the barn and on the paddock: weight, condition, temperament, calving and a note, one animal at a time. It works without signal and sends the records when signal comes back.

A bigger screen makes comparing easier: weight curves, animal lists, animals of the same group side by side, which cows to keep and which bull to use. The same records that went in on the phone, which you can also look at there.

What your records help you decide

Six questions from the farm year. Kari answers them from your own records, with the reason and the next step. The decision stays with you.

Who calves next?

See estimated calving dates and print a barn sheet.

The calving list and the calving form: how it went, the calf, udder suspension

Kari uses bull dates and pregnancy-check results to estimate calving dates. See the expected order and cows whose information is incomplete. Record each calving on your phone or a printed sheet.

Which animals need checking?

Prepare an animal list for weighing, condition scoring and pregnancy checks.

Today on the phone: the next job of the season is the pregnancy check, on the phone card or the printed sheet

Prepare one list of animals to weigh, condition-score or pregnancy-check. Enter the results on your phone or a printed sheet. Kari shows which results are still missing.

Which records need reporting?

See events awaiting submission to EPJ or PRIA.

Reports: due in the next 30 days, and whether the counts here match the registers

Kari lists events awaiting submission and their deadlines. Download prepared files for supported events, review them and submit them in the relevant system. Direct EPJ and PRIA connections are planned.

Which cows and heifers should I keep?

Review calving, pregnancy, calf-growth and temperament records together.

Cows: stay or go. The recorded reason: 0070 empty at the check, 7600 dangerous in the crush, 7426 attacked a person

Review each animal's calving history, pregnancy results, calf growth and temperament. Kari shows the recorded reason for a flag and identifies missing information. You decide which animals to keep.

Which bull fits my herd?

Compare bulls using your herd results and EPJ breeding values.

Bull choice: what your herd needs from your own records, assisted calvings, calves dead at birth, and the level at which each is flagged

Use your herd results to identify breeding priorities. Compare the relevant EPJ breeding values and each bull's relationship to your females.

Are my herd's results improving?

Compare pregnancy, calving and weaning results across years.

Season 2025/26: put to the bull 20, in calf at the check 100 %

Compare pregnancy rate, calving in the first three weeks and kilograms weaned per cow exposed to the bull. Kari also shows missing source records.

In development Grazing: plan the season and record moves between paddocks.Winter feed: calculate forage requirements and track the feed available.Finishing: review growth, readiness for slaughter and slaughter results.

Built from farm work

Where Kari comes from

Kari comes out of years of working suckler farms: the practical work at the crush, in the barn and on the paddock, joined to clear decision rules and a breeding philosophy built around the cow.

In the app, Kari brings each farm's records together: weights, calvings, condition, behaviour and the vet's checks on one animal's page, and shows why an animal needs attention and which records are missing. It is used every day on a working herd.

Kari is made by Herdloop. Herdloop is looking for a co-founder.

What do I need to start?

In Estonia, access to your herd's records in EPJ's Liisu or e-PRIA, and an e-mail address. Kari works only with Estonia's systems for now; elsewhere, tell us your country. A guide takes you through set-up step by step: bringing in the herd, inviting your team and installing the app on the phone.

How do I bring my animals into Kari?

Sign in to your Liisu account and run Kari's bookmark there, as the setup guide shows: your animals come in with their parents, calvings and weighings. If the herd is not in Liisu, the animals come from the e-PRIA register list. Then check that the animal list is correct.

Why is it free?

Kari is in testing. You can use it free through 31 May 2027. We ask you to report errors and anything that is difficult to use. You can send feedback from the app.

What happens after 31 May 2027?

You choose whether to continue. No payment card is required and there is no automatic charge. The proposed prices, which may still change, are shown below; final pricing will be published before the free period ends. Terms for the test

Herd sizeProposed annual price
Up to 10 cowsFree
50 cows€270 + VAT
150 cows€420 + VAT
Does Kari send data automatically to EPJ and PRIA?

You currently submit data yourself in Liisu or e-PRIA. Kari helps prepare the data. Direct connections are planned.

Do I still need Liisu and e-PRIA?

Yes. You continue using them for official submissions. Kari adds farm work lists, animal records and herd assessments.

Can I keep using paper?

Yes. Use Kari's printed sheets, then add the results from a photo or enter them manually.

Can I download my data?

Yes. Open "Your data" in the app and download your farm records.

Where Kari runs

The work on a suckler farm is much the same everywhere: calving, weighing, the pregnancy check, the walk through the cows. What changes from country to country are the registers, their files and deadlines, and the language. Kari takes on one country at a time, with its rules built in.
